EXTENDED REALITY (XR) INTERNSHIP WORK

EMPATHY THROUGH DESIGN

NOTE: All content and work presented herein are the exclusive property of State Farm® and may not be used, reproduced, or distributed without prior written consent of State Farm®.

As an Extended Reality (XR) intern, I worked with a small start-up team in State Farm’s Enterprise Technology department to reimagine the company’s Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging training program for new hires. My job was to take the content framework of the existing module and modify it to exist in an immersive digital experience. Although the final results of that overarching project are proprietary, I was granted permission to share smaller projects that I worked on in service of our overarching goal to achieve empathy through design.

State Farm ERG Newsletter

Within my role at State Farm, I got the opportunity to collaborate with the Marketing department to create newsletters and different pieces of media surrounding diversity, equity, and inclusion. This was a draft of a newsletter sent out within the company. Since the photos were changed before the newsletter was sent out, I was given permission to use this particular work in my portfolio.

State Farm Design Challenge

Every year, State Farm holds an internal 24-hour design challenge within its Enterprise Technology department. I partnered with a software engineer and designed a virtual scavenger hunt that showcased the different holidays celebrated by State Farm employees in December. I modeled and animated seven different assets for this experience. I also designed the entire user interface (interactive graphic elements) of the experience. My partner and I won first place out of forty-five different teams and our concept was internally implemented into their immersive digital world.
