COMMUNICATING THROUGH CREATIONS

Personal leave-behinds

In December of 2024, I was chosen as 1 of 16 students to participate in an exclusive, intensive academic course called Experience Orlando, which was designed to accelerate the development of my professional identity and expertise of the themed entertainment industry. During the class, I was required to create leave-behinds that accurately reflected my personal brand and story. As an accessibility designer that focuses on creating themed spaces for neurodivergent people and others with sensory processing disorders, I chose to create little sensory kits using objects to communicate a single story. I made six variations, which allowed me to create six different package designs.

CREATING THE KITS

DISPLAYING THE KITS

The Multidisciplinary Association for Professional Preparedness in Experience Design (known as MAPPED) at the Savannah College of Art and Design was recently looking to establish a new visual identity, so they held a design competition that would help them rebrand. My entry won the competition, and it is currently being used for any official materials within the association. The branding guide I developed is available below.

In order to better understand the relationship between complementary colors, I was tasked with creating a food company and designing a package for one of their potential products. As an owner of six pet chickens and a lover of all things avian, I chose to model the new food brand after them. However, I did not want chickens to be the product. Instead, I thought back to this monthly subscription box I used to get for my hens, which always included a candy of some kind for humans amongst all of the chicken treats. My favorite was a packet of gummies shaped like chicken feet and eggs, so I ended up using those for my product.
